Tech Spec

The best way to enter your film is by uploading it online, but you can also download an application form and send your entry via the post.

Accepted file formats are:
AVI, QuickTime, Windows Media and MPEG.

File Extensions:
.avi, .mov, .wmv, .mpg, .mpeg, .mp4, .m4v
Please note that we currently do not accept Flash files (.fla or .flv file extensions).

Specific video encodings (or codecs) that we accept include: H.264, H.263, MPEG 1 or 2 or 4 and motion JPEG.

The video frame rate should be above 12 frames per second.

Bit rate:
The video bit rate should be above 260 Kbps.

This year we can accept files that are up to 400mb in size
Please note that it may take some time to upload your file to our system and this depends upon the speed of your connection. We will confirm receipt of your video after the upload process is completed.

Aspect Ratio:

Films must be in aspect ration 16:9. 

If you are sending your film by post, please burn the source file onto disk (CD or DVD) or save it onto a pen drive/memory stick. Do not create a DVD that can be played through a DVD player as we cannot accept it.
