Young Filmmakers

We saw some wonderful entries from young filmmakers last year and we really hope to see this trend continue!

We have prizes for the Best Mobile Phone Short and Best Young Filmmaker, dedicated to celebrating independent filmmakers. Following some excellent documentary entries last year from school groups and young filmmakers, we have introduced an award for the Best Documentary Film as well. If you're interested in entering, please take ten minutes to watch this excellent series of tips from Edinburgh-born filmmaker Lachlan Peel who won Best Film in the Youth Category in 2018, and went on to bag Best Student Film in the open category in 2019.

Fancy following in Lachlan’s footsteps? If you’re a young creative, FilmG could be the first step into a whole host of new opportunities. All you need to do is make a Gaelic film, no longer than 5 minutes in length!

Check out our prize list, rules, copyright guidelines, and tech spec before entering.
