For centuries, the people of Uist Street have told of a ferry that would come from Mallaig Road. They would tell stories about it, songs were written about it but, according to the traditions of the Street, only one person had ever seen it, Small Malcolm of the Lies in the 18th century. Today, many have forgotten the ferry entirely, others are of the opinion that it was never anything but a myth but there are still a handful who uphold the old customs and beliefs of their ancestors. You can see them waiting hopefully, patiently and faithfully in the belief that they'll see the ferry some fine day. Well, it wouldn't sail on any other type of day, would it?
